Tosi/Tossi looking for Buenos Aires connections or relative

Post by 120camden »

Grandmother, Matilda born Nov 23, 1891. Have one written indication of Balcarce, Buenos Aires, Argentina. GGM's Jean/Joan/Giovanna Tosi/Tossi Lagneau. Her obiturary makes reference to 6 brothers and sisters living in South America. Experts on this site found records of Jeanne T. Lagneau returning from Buenos Aires in 1929. We think she must have returned with Matilda's son, Armondo Giovanna age 8. We can find his name on the same ship manifest.

Thank you.

Yes, I also came across that information. It seems to look like a "family" since there are other kids listed and possibly parents on the page before.
Which arises suspicions. Matilda's mother, Giovannia Tosi/Tossi Lagneau, I believe had siblings living in South America. Wonder if Matilda could have been adopted and then lived in France, where her 1920 manifest lists her departure. Having trouble locating any Lagneau name in Buenos Aires. There is a 1929 Ellis manifest from Bruenos Aires of Jeanne T. Lagneau coming back from Buenos Aires.

Have written record from a 1920 Kokomo Tribune Article about Vincent Lobianco and Matilda Lobianco. She married him in France and came to US in 1920. Settled in Kokomo. Someone forwarded me the news article. It is so amazing to have researchers like yourself interested in helping families locacte relatives.

M,
I'm not sure what you found in regards to Lagneau. Some sort of census records or passage records.
On the obituary of Jean Lagneau it lists Sartirana, province de Pavia, Italy as her place of birth.

Michael,
Does this post indicate that in 1/29 Jeanne travelled from New York to Buenos Aires and Sartriana is just listed has her place of birth?

I went the site you attached, unfortunately I do not know spanish. Maybe I found the place to for Nombres (names) but it asks for specific dates.

Is this the only listing of her going to Buenos Aires.

yes I did. Found several Tosi listings in argentina..a bunch. One Lagneau but a few others Lagneaux. I guess without any family names right now I don't really know what to do with the white pages info.
Thanks for the link though.
