Could he have married Concetta in Manhattan?

You're awesome!vj wrote:Hello Cynthia!lafemmeamrcn wrote: How did you find all this information on DeGelorms and Granitieri's?
All of the records are from ancestry (manifests from Ellis Island)
One record lead to another starting with your information and Nicholas and Mary on the 1930 census.
Since both surnames were hard to find, I searched using first names and approximate birth dates in Luzerne County.
The naturalization records were found after the 1920 census stated that Luigi was naturalized abt 1911. I searched directly in the Ancestry. com. U.S. Naturalization Records - Original Documents, 1795-1972 database for "Luigi" born 1881 +/- 1 year in Pennsylvania.

Re: Luigi and Concetta, they could have been married in Manhattan, but I'm not sure. My father doesn't give me any information as we are estranged from each other. So, it's hard. My mother's side is not Italian.

Re: Degirolamo and Granitieri surnames
Okay, that's good to know. My father's people came from Foggia, Serra Capriola, DeGirolamo is the last name. His mother's people are the Granatieri/o, and I'm not really sure if they are from Foggia.Crono wrote:i live in Gargano..correct surname is Granatiero and not Granatieri...here is a surname diffused...in Monte Sant'Angelo and Mattinata..

Re: Degirolamo and Granitieri surnames
Yup. I have found Granteed, Granted, and Grunted. My grandmother's maiden name was Granteed. They were from Pittston/Hughestown. I also found out that it's not spelled Granitieri, but Granatiero. Not sure where in Italy they are from, but I believe it's Vico del Gargano. I have recently made a connection with someone who does genealogy on the Foggia region. Thanks for your help.

Yes, my father keeps telling me it is Granatiero, but I have not found anything to support that. But you live there, so I will go with that.
My grandmother's father was Guiseppe Granatier(i) and his wife was Carmella (per my father) Bisceglie (Biscelia). His American name was Joseph Granteed. I have not been able to find his parents.
Thanks.
