Origin of Sabatino Surname
Origin of Sabatino Surname
Trying to find city of origin of my great grandfather, Lawrence Sabatino, born in Italy. I have not been able to find any immigration records. He was married to Josephine Lapire, apparently after his immigration to U.S. There were 3 children, Lawrence, born 1900 in Italy, Marion, and Pauline, my grandmother.

Re: Origin of Sabatino Surname
Can't find anything on census. A cousin said Lorenzo and wife were buried in Louisiana. My grandmother lived in Louisiana, her brothers in St. Louis. My grandmother died around 1930.
Thanks your help.

Re: Origin of Sabatino Surname
Sorry, you are right about marrige. Lapire sounds French, that's what threw me. I can't find the immigration records you mentioned, what port did they sail into? I found one Lorenzo landed in 1912, nothing in 1902.
Cousin said he was buried in Louisiana. My grandmother lived in Louisiana, died ~1930, young, brothers lived in St. Louis, MO area.
Thanks for information,
Paula

Re: Origin of Sabatino Surname
This is from a previous post. Is this census record that Wildspirt found your family? If so you have an approximate year of immigration.

Re: Origin of Sabatino Surname
I really don't know if this is my family. Does his wife or any children show up with him. That would be the only way I would know for sure. I only know that his son Lawrence was born in 1900 in Italy. I don't know where they came from, or where they landed. I know Lorenzo and wife's name through his son's SSN application, that I sent for. Surname spelling has changed, but that happens so often with Italian surnames.
