Vincento April Birth Record 1851

Post by ItalianbellaSA »

Hi Everyone!

I started doing my maternal genealogy and found this birth record of Vincenzo Aprile, my great-great uncle. So far, I have translated:

Born: Vincenzo Aprile (or D'Aprile)
Date: February 20, 1851
Father: Filipo - Age 26 - Workhand
Mother: Guiseppa Mondello - Age 24

I can see it looks like an address in Patti. If anyone can read that, I would be very happy. Also, please correct anything I have wrong and add anything I missed. Does it give the parents names of Filipo and Guiseppa? Was anything written about the baptismal, sponsors or church?

Thanks again - for all your help!

It is hoped that the research I am doing helps to discover, preserve and celebrate my family history.

No, the baptism section of this record is NOT a church baptism record. It contains baptism info that the parish priest filled in for the town's civil official and was recorded with the civil and not church records. Only the church baptism record would have the names of godparents, but even then, they may not have been related to the family. In some Church baptism books, the same individual(s) served as godparent(s) for all the children whose baptisms are recorded on the same page. In some towns, the relationship of the godfather or godmother to the family is given. Parish name S.Bartolomeo
Thanks again - for all your help!
