Lombardini

Post by pj01cj02 »

My Great Grandfather Leandro Lombardini arrived in America 12 Oct 1898. He left from Genoa on the Aller. Last place of residence listed as S. Conendio. His fathers name Joseph mothers name Mary Parinelli. Leandro changed his name to Andrew. Leandro had a sister Pia Lombardini. Pia married Enrico Giuli in Houghton, MI USA in 1903. Also a brother Gervasio Lombardini. Anyone with information on any of these people would be appreciated. I have no information on Joseph Lombardini and Mary, very limited on Leandro/Andrew and only the name of Pia and her husband.

I only have a 1910 census that lists Leandro/Andrew. Have not been able to get any further. And I really don't know where to begin to look in Italy.
Ty for reply.

Have you looked but been unable to find them on the 1920 and 1930 census?

Here is the manifest you mentioned above. Perhaps someone can help identify the city. Line 27

Do you think they immigrated to the USA?

You have 2 variations of Marianna's surname... are you reading this from a document...??

I am sure it is Mary Parinelli but on the web site of Church of the Latter Day Saints it shows her as Paulinelli. I am not sure if they came to the USA. I know that Leandro/Andrew, Gervasio and Pia did. Don't know even if there were other children. I think possibly they came from Lucca.

They had to be in Italy at one time or the other for the kids to have come to USA. I am just starting to try to figure out how to search for these things. My father does not know anything about his family. His own father died when he was only 3 and his mother didn't want contact with her deceased husbands family.

There are 3 Ellis island manifests with the surname Parinelli... so the spelling seems to be correct... not sure about Paulinelli - though 1 manifest does exist from Lucca... (just wondering if the record keeper made errors here...)

http://ellisisland.org/search/shipManif ... 2468120206

also a Paolinelli from Lucca...

I am checking further.

I do know that Leandro/Andrew Lombardini, Gervasio and Pia were in the Houghton, MI area. Andrew worked in the Copper mines.
