Great Grandmother Rosina (Rose) Caruso

Post by cdar1231 »

Dear ItalianGenealogy.com Friends,

Thanks to your kind assistance, i was able to determine that the line for my great grandfather is a dead end as he was a foundling. Consequently, i would like to try the line of his wife.

From her death certificate (which i obtained from the state of CT) i have the following:

1) She was born on 5 June 1888 in Avella, Avellino, Italy
2) She died on 21 December 1947 in Waterbury, Connecticut (CT), USA
3) Her father's name was Pietro Caruso
4) Her mother's name was Colonna Nappe

From various (1910, 1920, 1930 & 1940) census records, i know that she came to the US in approximately 1907.

I know that she married Fedele Grande on 20 Oct 1907 in Ashtabula, Ohio, USA

Finally, i know from family who remember that she had 2 sisters: Philomena & Mary.

Thank you in advance for anything that anyone can add.

It seems there are a lot of "Carusos" and i don't have enough info to tell which are mine. Anybody have better luck or point me in a direction? The details provided by Martin about Pasquale was new and VERY appreciated.

Maybe you should try the family history library films Registri dello stato civile di Avella (Avellino), 1809-1899. Births, marriages, banns, deaths, miscellaneous documents, 10-year indexes
This film if they were all born in Avella will give you the info you seek by searching the birth records using the same parents Pietro Caruso and of Colonna Nappo
