Can't find birth certificate

Post by ncolonna »

Hi,

I have the birth certificate for my 2x great grandfather and from it I know his father was Giuseppe Damato, age 40, day laborer, the son of Giambattista Damato; mother was Filomena Rex, daughter of deceased Nicola Rex.

Working backwards I figure his father would have been born in 1834 or so, but when I check the birth records for Rutigliano for that year (as well as 1833 & 1835) I am unable to find anything.. Perhaps I just missed it, or maybe he was born in a town other than Rutigliano. If you have any suggestions on where to look next it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Nick
