documents from Lucca

Post by jmb44 »

Has anyone had experience getting marriage or birth certificates from the commune of LUCCA? I mailed a request(also faxed and emailed) in early November and am wondering how soon I am likely to get a response? Should I call? If so, when?

Dear jmb44,

I asked a birth certificate a year ago and they took some time before coming back to me. Unfortunately they couldn't find it...

Meanwhile they where looking for it, a person from the "Ufficio di stato civile", the register office, contacted me by e-mail (my initial contact was also by e-mail) and reassured me that they will indeed come back to me with a final answer (which, as said before, was negative).

What I recommend you is to send an email to Ms. Lucia Dal Porto (the person that contacted me from the Comune) and ask her about your request. Her e-mail address is:
l.dalporto@comune.lucca.it

In addition, you can send the same e-mail to the competent office, that is the Ufficio Anagrafe - Stato Civile, at the following e-mails:
uffanagrafe@comune.lucca.it
anagrafestorici@comune.lucca.it

Good luck,

Thank you so much for the information. The documents that I requested are on the "family search" website in journal form, so I assume the commune has them as well. I don't know if the appropriate person actually received my request. Having a name is very helpful.
