Zancini surname

Post by Beate »

Hello Friends...

I have another name to try to place. This one, I fear, will be very difficult. The relative with this name was born in Massachusetts, 1897. Her father was, I am led to believe, born in Italy, but I have no indication of location.

The name is Zancini, but various spellings have been offered, some of which are Zancani, or Zancan. The name does not seem to be a very common one. Is there any chance that a location could be pinned down? I have very little further info. Thank you so much for any help.

No clue as to the given name??

A few "Sancini" manifests do show up as well...

Have you located a 1900 census record?

There is a LUIGI ZANCINI at the Ellis Island site arriving in 1901, city of provenience Larido, nationality: Austrian.
Larido-Marazzone is today a hamlet of the municipality of Bleggio Superiore in the province of Trento. Trento has become italian in 1918 after WWI.
Today the surname doesn't exist in Italy.
Good luck!
Marco
The Ellis Island page is here but I'm not sure the page will open correctly

Hi Beate,

Your post is old but I'm hoping you see this. I have a line of Zancan in my family. I'd love to exchange information. Thanks.
