Hi,
The following is a death record for my 4x-great-grandmother, Marianna Houjo.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... 1264953123
Her place of birth, along with that of her father, is given as France - there is a word, shown twice in the document, which may show the location within France, but I can't make it out.
If anyone can offer any advice as to where in France this might be, I would much appreciate it.
Thanks very much in advance,
Regards,
Michael

Maybe you're referring to what is stated after parents' names, i.e. "domiciliato in vita in Francia" and "domiciliato in vita ivi" ("resident in France when living" and "resident in the same place when living")

Re: Marianna Houjo
Hi,
In the document above, she is listed as "vedova" - does this mean she was already a widow, and her husband died before her? - or did she make her husband a widower and he died after her?
Thanks very much,
Michael

Yes, if she was "vedova" she was already a widow - husband deceased.m11oct wrote:Hi,

If her husband were living... she would be identified as "moglie" - wife.
