Need help on family arrival!!!

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

I can now confirm that the Joseph Trombatore in the 1900 census record that T posted for you was the brother of your Bernardo. So Joseph's daughter married Bernardo's son-first cousins marrying.

Here is a link to the Latin church record for Joseph and Anna D'Antoni. Dated Feb 13, 1870 in Corleone. He was the son of Salvatore Trombatore and Blasia (Biagia) Lampo (possibly this surname is Lanza, which I see in the town). Anna was the daughter of deceased Giovanni D'Antoni and living Gioachina Spinella.

This Jacob Trombatore is the son of Bernardo Trombatore and Paola Accamanno (Accamando).I think in later church records, the priests had the latter spelling of the surname. According to his WW II draft registration card, he was born in Patterson Louisiana on Oct 3, 1887. His middle name was Michael.

He is in the WWI draft registration as being born on Oct 3, 1887, but in the California death index, his date of birth is given as Oct 30, 1887. He died in Los Angeles on Nov 3, 1950. The Jennie he married is the daughter of the Joseph and Anna Trombatore on the 1900 census that T originally found for you. Joseph is in the early California death index as having died on 3/18/1935 at the age of 80 (born 1855). Anna Trombatore is in the same index as having died on Jan 19, 1932 at the age of 77. I don't know if the father Joseph Trombatore was related to your Bernardo Trombatore. That is something you will have to pursue.

The information that was given to me was that Bernardo Trombatore (no birth or death year) had a son Joseph Bernard (B-12/8/1896-or 1897 he died 6/7/1978) Wife's name was Hazel. Child of Joseph and Hazel was Benjamin Joseph Trombatore B-8/14/1928 - d-5/16/1907.
The information that you have given something to go by. If I could find the obit on Joseph Bernard, it could have who his parents and siblings were. I did find Benjamin Joseph (Ben) Trombatore Obit (his first wife was Betty Dugas) and it has all of his children listed on his obit.

Awesome search - you have hit pay-dirt. Now I could start putting all the pieces together and start from the very beginning....I have the middle and end part, but was missing where it all started. You do not know how much I appreciate all your time you have spent. I just wish that I could read Latin or Italian.

Joseph Bernard Trombatore-

His marriage record in California shows his mother's name as Paulin DiMattia (this could be an error)

Looks like he is buried in Louisiana

Also his WWI and WWII draft registration cards from California

I just realized that you had the passenger list at the beg of your post here. Sorry about that, but I do think that is him on the passenger list. I went through that ship's entire manifest and the wife and daughter are not there. It's possible the daughter is either under the mother's maiden name or the name of someone else from the town who may have accompanied her. Also I am thinking about the surname DiMattio on that marriage record of Bernard Joseph. I think it's possible that Bernardo T was deceased before the time of the 1900 census and that Paola remarried, which is why her surname on the marriage record of Bernard Joseph is different. It's just a thought which I can't prove due to the lack of online records. The surname may have been DeMatteo.

This family is certainly a challenge as far as U.S. records are concerned. BTW, Paola's baptism was in 1858, but I will have to look again for the link.

Hi Erudita:
Never hurts for two people search the same ship .... I could not find any of their names either. Looked on the early Census and there was nothing. So you theory could be correct on Bernardo being deceased.
I did forward the Marriage of Joseph Bernard and Hazel to the Great Grandson and asked him if he could recall if that was his Great Great Grandparents also on the certificate.

Yes you are correct saying that "this family is certainly a challenge", but with you helping, I have gone way beyond all expectations on this small branch of the Trombatore Tree.

Thank you again, and again.
