re: groom's occupation - tagliamonte -- what might this be?
re: town of birth, Vi??? (although the second letter is an 'i', and this might be a stretch, but i wonder if it is "Veltri", as in Veltri Sul Mare, which is near Dragonea, where his parents reside.)
any thoughts are appreciated.

I believe you have the groom's place of birth correct.
Here are links to two pdf files with photos of the occupation tagliamonte.
The first should be on page 4; the second on page 9

Re: groom occupation & birth town
Donna, I think you mean Vietri sul Mare. (Just being pedantic here)
Erudita, these are great finds. I spent ages yesterday and came up with nothing.
Tagliamonte: My understanding from the article on page 9 is that Tagliamonte are those that used long iron poles (hammering with force) to split the tuff and then with pickaxes and other tools they cut the stones by hand?
(I wish there was an English version to the second link, it looks so interesting.)
