A Poll - Where was your appt / how long until notification
A Poll - Where was your appt / how long until notification
This is an informal poll for anyone who has been successful in getting citizenship via Jure Sanguinis or the like.
What consulate did you apply at?
How long did you wait for your initial appointment?
How long after your final appointment did you hear about the success/failure of your application?

Re: A Poll - Where was your appt / how long until notificati
We applied in NYC and I believe we had to wait 8-9 months for an appointment in August 2011. However I think they were short-staffed so they cancelled it and then the soonest we could get was February, 2012. We needed to get/correct a few items, and had to wait another year. As if to compensate, after that appointment early this year, we received our letters from the Consulate within 2-1/2 weeks. We were stunned! I'd done a search of these boards and thought we'd wait 2-6 months. No idea why.

My appointment was in Philadelphia in December 2012.
The wait for an appointment in Philly is almost a year.
Still waiting to hear results of application.

Re: A Poll - Where was your appt / how long until notificati
In 2001, I was a legal resident of Mexico and submitted my documents (originating in the Philadelphia consulate jurisdiction) to the Italian Embassy in Mexico City. The Embassy was kind enough to translate all of them at no cost to me and because I'm an American citizen and not a Mexican citizen, forwarded them to the Philadelphia Consulate for processing. I had my Italian passport in hand within six months (issued by the Guadalajara Consulate at the instruction of the Philly Consulate) after which I moved to Italy and have been in Italy ever since. High marks to both the Mexico City Embassy and the Philadelphia Consulate.
Fast forward 12 years. I recently received a call from IPS Italy (Philly) which kindly set an appointment in October this year for my sister to submit her own documents with instructions that she need bring only her own birth certificate, marriage license and marriage certificate, translated and apostilled since the consulate already has our family's case work on file. Had my sister's documents been ready at this time, IPS Philly was prepared to set an even earlier date for her appointment. Once again, high marks for the Philly Consulate and for IPS.

I applied in LA. Waited approx. 4 months for the appointment. (Oct.2012). I received an email confirming the recognition 2 weeks later.
My father had been recognized by another consulate just 4 months prior, so I guess the comune worked quickly to register my documents.

By which time the new €300 application fee will be in place.

Re: A Poll - Where was your appt / how long until notificati
We applied through NYC and had 3 appointments, a year apart each, and after the last one they accepted our papers (all other family members have already been recognized by their consulates - LA and Boston) in April and said it would be a few months. We are STILL waiting and I am feeling slightly frustrated and despairing. We have contacted the comune, and they don't have our paperwork yet. Is there anything we can do to try to get New York to move on this? It is a bit ridiculous at this point, considering that all siblings and parents have already gotten their passports.
