1839: 19 November at 4 p.m. Termini, Palermo

Appearing were:

Antonio Sansone, Widower of Caterina Catanzaro, aged 46, born and living Termini, Marinaio - seaperson - sailor, son of the late Domenico and the late Rosaria Valenti

Maria Rosa Granta, widow of ?, aged 34, living and born in Termini, daughter of the late Biaggio and Antonina Caleagno, 70 from Termini.

This is an Act of Solemn Promise to Marry

Dated 19 November 1839 at 4 PM before the official in Termini
Appearing were
Antonio Sanzone, widower of Caterina Catanzaro, age 46 and born in Termini, a sailor residing in Termini, son of deceased Domenico and deceased Rosaria Valenti
AND
Maria Rosa Granata(?), widow of Maestro Giorgio Albanese, age 34 and born in Termini, residing in Termini she was the daughter of deceased Biaggio and of Antonina Calcagno who is age 70 and residing in Termini.

The right column indicates that the celebration of the canonical (church) marriage took place on the 19 of November in Termini at the Parish church.

Page 2

The mother of the bride was present to give her formal consent to the marriage.
The notification (banns) were posted on 13 October of the current year.
Records provided:
1 – baptism of the groom
2 – baptism of the bride
3 – certificate of death of Caterina Catanzaro, the first spouse of the groom

Page 3

4 – Certificate of death of Maestro Giorgio Albanese, first spouse of the bride
5 – Death act of the father and paternal grandfather of the groom, and the act of death of the mother of the groom
6 – Act of death of the father of the bride, and of the paternal grandfather of the bride
7 – Act of notification
8 – I think this is the certificate that they are free to marry?

You are very welcome. I was about to change Maria Rosa's surname to Granata as I noticed I've made a typo. I don't need to now as Tessa has corrected this. (Although having said this I believe that Granta is a surname.) I will stop working on this now :D

EDIT:
In Termini is found the surnames GRANATA and GRANDE, but not Granta :-)

If it's not to much asking I posted a few others from last night

One of them I post the wrong year not 1958 suppose to 1858.

All Good - yes, as always great team work. Actually I was doing it in two parts also but you are heaps quicker than me I'm a real snail :)

So Granata it must be - that is certainly what it looks like in the record.

Sansone - Sanzone? Coleagno - Colcagno? I'll go with your interpretation and experience T.

Both spellings exist in Termini - I just chose the wrong one! :lol:
