i need any help that one can offer

Post by themelmel »

hello.
i\'m melanie from north carolina. my grandfather on my fathers side of the family immigrated to new york (and later into pa) from strangolagalli, ripi, province di frosinone....he was born
feb. 21, 1896, and died in november of 1964...we know that he immigrated around the turn of the last century, but the exact year is stilll fuzzy. i\'ve have seen the ellis island website, and so far it isn\'t much help....i\'ve entered other message boards....i\'ve done what i can so far. we have one uncle (my dad\'s oldest brother, who is in his late 70\'s) that might know something useful but he very often refuses to speak about it.
i do have an aunt that tries to be useful (she is my fathers mothers only surviving sibling, she\'s in her 80\'s), but we don\'t get to talk often...and living in north carolina as we do, she lives in pa. so it gets difficult to just run over to her house....
any help that i receive is appreciated...trust that.
other surnames i am interested in would be
crago (grieco, my grandmother on my fathers side\'s maiden name)
and di gasperi (my fathers grandmothers on his fathers sides maiden name....thank you ......
melanie

ps-----my grandfathers name was guiseppi (joseph), his father was pietro, and HIS fathers name was filipo. :-o

Go to www.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm for form 81 passenger arrival records to \"unfuzzy\" the date of arrival. You can go to www.paginebianche.it for the other surnames you ware interested in by going to www.paginebianche.it and inserting the surnames (one at a time) in the first line and the town in the third line and click CERCA and a listing of those persons with thast name win that town will appear. Since I do not conduct any research you will have to advise what your research objectives are so that I can direct you further. Peter
thanx alot. i\'ll have to try them next week. there\'s no real direction with this... i was just doing some basic genealogy. we know quite a bit about my mothers side of the family comparitively. and i always felt bad about not knowing as much about my dads side.
at the very least just knowing names and birthdates, etc would make the people a little more real to me. and if at any time i was ever to plan to go over there to do research or just to visit the area, i would need to know some of the grandparents info, however basic.
but i will definitely try the websites you have listed for me. and thank you again.
