Family of Joseph Notarianni

Post by ChristineChaos »

Hello,
My mother is looking for cousins on her mother's side. Her mother, Maria Notarianni, who married Francesco Adamo, had a brother named Joseph Notarianni who moved to the US but isn't sure where. She believes he had two children, a daughter named Francesca who became a nun, and a son named Giovanni. She knows for certain that Joseph (or Giuseppe) was born in 1898 in Calabria, Italy, and died on August 28, 1967 in the US. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Many people from San Mango d'Aquino settled in the Providence section of Scranton PA as shown on Joseph's Naturalization record. 1306 Diamond Avenue was the home of the Ferlaino family who took in boarders from San Mango, including my grandfather's oldest brother, Antonio Epifano, who also lived in the 1920s at 1306 Diamond Avenue.

Other Notarianni's from San Mango settled in the Scranton area and a number of their descendants still live in the area including the husband, John Notarianni, of my cousin Serafina Epifano.

I've been trying to locate Joseph's son Raffaele (Ralph) mentioned in his naturalization paperwork but thus far have come up empty.

I believe you are referring to my grandfather. If so, he had seven children: Joanne, Joseph, Fran, John, Anne Marie, Thomas (a.k.a. Raymond), and Teresa (my mother)... and three that he treated as his own: Josephine (a.k.a. Jay), Marie, (Sammy (a.k.a. Sonny). Anne Marie, Raymond, and Joanne are still with us. You can message me if you are still monitoring this account.

Anthony,

Is your son Brett? If so, I have sent him an invite to visit the Epifano/Bifano/Befano family tree I have on Ancestry.
