HI Lady4law,
Could you be more specific in your research goals? No sense in spending time looking for records you alread have.
Have you started with birth marriage and death records from your parents going back?
Have you found immigration records?
Have you found the family on all census years (done every 10 years, most recent 1930) they were in the USA? The census will list the year of immigration, to help locate these records.
Debbie

Wildspirt, thanks for point this out.
Lady4Law: YOu have had several replys to your posts and you don't follow up and respond to the person answering you. Please don't keep starting a new thread. It gets really hard to follow. Go to the bottom of this thread and click on post reply to continue here. Please review your posts and respond to the answers that have been provided to you. We want to try and help you, but its difficult when you don't follow through.
To all others: I realize some of these posts have been answered by Ptimber, quite a while ago. I only included them for history. Please, lets not rehash the Peter issue. Thanks Debbie.

Re: Salerno, Sferlazza, Zagona, Vento, Placa
Sorry, I was having a hard time with this site for a while. Not sure if it was the site or my computer. I responded on the other posts so will not on here. As for Ptimber, not a member, is that impprtant for posting? His advice seems good. (thought only members could post, maybe I need to reread instructions. I cannot believe the problems I am having trying to get my GF's birth records. I know his date of birth, city, parents names, their birth towns, and his siblings birth dates (same town). I still can not get Lercera Friddi to respond to my mail.
Thank you for any assitance.

Lady4Law,
Are you writing to Lercera Friddi in Italian or English?
If English, I would recommend getting the letter translated into Italian, it would probably improve the likelihood of a reply.

Hi, Raymo's advice is good.
If the Comune doesn't reply, maybe it is best to research from film.. it will save you time in the long run...
Trish provided film notes - as mentioned in the other post linked here...

Re: Salerno, Sferlazza, Zagona, Vento, Placa
My request was in Italian. I located a great web site that posted a series of letters for different requests,i.e., birth, death, marriage and even one for Churches requesting the same documents plus baptismal records. (and darn I cannot locate that page again.
