Sanfilippo from Travia

Hi, I'm hoping to be able to fill in the blanks.
My Grandparents and their young children emigrated from Travia, Sicily to Santa Clara County (San Jose) in 1900. My grandfather Filippo (Phillip) Sanfilippo was born 11/17/1846 died 1/4/1924. My grandmother Marie (Mary) was born 12/27/1853 died 12/26/1934. I noticed their last name was once spelled Sanfeleppo. Their oldest child was my father Filippo (Phillip) was born 9/30/1891) and died 3/16/1975 in San Jose, Ca. He had at least two brothers Vito (Charles) born in 1900 and Francis born in 1896. Other relative names I discovered were Salvatore, Vincenzo, Guiseppe, Saverio, Francesco, Antonio, Mrs Angelina Scialabba, Mrs Carmela LaBarbera, Mrs Caterina Scialabba and my half-brothers George and Edward Sanfilippo. I took a trip to San Jose in the late 1980's and found his death certificate, a copy of his obituary and visited the cemetary where he lays but the address for Edward on the cemetary paperwork wasn't valid. Unfortunately, I was given up for adoption. Therefore my resourses have already ran out. From the adoption papers my father mentioned his younger brother Charles who moved to South America before retiring in Palm Springs, CA. My mothers name was Della Marie Dalgity Sanfilippo who died in 1971. She was 28 yrs old when I was born in San Diego, Ca on May 24, 1957. I too am trying to tie up loose ends about my ancestors, and your reference to an Edward SanFilippo caught my attention because my grandfather's name was Edward Phillip SanFilippo. His father's name was Phillip SanFilippo.

My grandfather was born July 4th 1921, spent most of his life in San Jose, and died in Cove, Oregon in 1984.

If any of this information seems to match up, let me know, and I can fill you in on additional details.

Hi, I just started researching family and found this. My name is Jacque and I live in San Jose, CA- My great grandmother was Mella (Sanfilippo) Oliveri- her parents were Michele "Michael" Sanfilippo and Maria (Scialabba) Sanfilippo. So it looks like I'm a cousin! Anyway, I have an upcoming cruise and am spending a day in Palermo so I was interested in finding out if we still had family there or if I could see where they came from- I might have to go to Trabia now!
