Could anybody give me an estimate of how much it would cost to obtain my Italian citizenship? I would get it on my grandfathers side since he and my grandmother emigrated from Sicily in 1906 and 1913 then married in USA and my father was born in 1917 and both grandparents became US citizens around 1940.
Thanks in advanced.

Re: citizenship
It's really difficult to provide an estimate, but because you are going back only two generations, you have many fewer documents to obtain.
The Italian documents are very inexpensive. The cost of US documents and apostilles depend on the state from which you obtain them. If you have copies of the naturalization certificates, you can use those. You will also need to hire a translator, and costs vary.
Also, if there are documents discrepancies, it adds to the cost.
I would guesstimate that under $500 is possible.
I was fortunate that when I applied about ten years ago, I needed to provide documents only for those in the direct line. I was also able to translate my own documents. I don't think this is possible today.

Re: citizenship
How much do you want it?
Have you any plans to live in Italy or the EU? Are you interested in genealogy? Do you have children/grandchildren who may benefit from Italian citizenship? Answers to these questions may help you decide.
