Translation: marriage record

Post by 1cathy »

Could someone please help me translate the last paragraph on this marriage record? It says something about the husbands mother. Her name was Lucia D'ariano. I can't make out the handwriting and my Italian isn't that good. Thank you all so very much.

This is what I read: "E'altresi comparsa Lucia d'Ariano, madre dello sposo, la quale da' il consenso per contrarre il richiesto matrimonio"

Not verbatim, I understand it to be saying that Lucia d'Ariano, mother of the groom, also appeared to give her consent, which was required, for contracting the marriage.

Thank you so much. I thought I saw the word contesse and that maybe she was contesting the marriage.
