Hi Suanj, I am sure Aaron will get back with details. This is what I think he means.

Francesco (Frank) Sim was married to Emma in Washington County, PA. They lived in PA and their children were born there. Emma died in USA (before Frank). Frank returned to Amantea (he had his social security pension to live on) and married a second time in Amantea. Aaron indicated that this second wife is still alive and living in Amantea.

Aaron, let us know if I summed this up properly.

This manifest in NOT Frank, but may provide a clue on the surname. The surname is the same as the spelling of Frank's in the 1930 census.

Hi Debbie, reaaly, Ciombo exist in Dipignano and San Pietro Amantea.. only some person... most probable this surname is an mistaken version of someother.. and however all living people are named Ciombo... but this is only an surname part, because really is ARLIA CIOMBO (the complete surname) and currently are nobody Rosa or Rosalita( Rosarita...?) Ciombo and nobody Francesco.. however Ciombo could be correct... many kisses, suanj

Yes, Frank came over to US, his wife died, he returned to Amantea where he remarried.

As to the surname from the aglicized "Sim": this is proving to be a challeging puzzle. 1930 census listed it as Ciombo. Again, the popular opinion of the family is that it was originally "Simbo" which seems unlikely. I have almost no information about Frank's father... could it be possible that he was not italian? I will do some poking around "arlia ciombo"...

Hello Aaron. This is you cousin Shawn in Wash Pa. (Aunt Fran Sim Gisoni's #4 Son). Did you know Aunt Lee? She is your grandmothers aunt, and my mom's aunt, and Frank Sim's Sister-in-law. She is alive and well living here in Washington. Didn't know if you contacted her for any information.
