I am looking for information on my grandfather's family in Fagnano Castello. My grandfather's name was Vincenzo Avolio. He came to the USA in about 1905. His parents names were, Gaetano Avolio and Maria Francesca Porcello. I have not been able to find any information on them. My grandfather's sister lived in Fagnano until her death in the late '80's. Her name was Cristina Abritta. I visited Fagnano in the '80's and saw the Church in Fagnano where my grandfather was baptized. I cannot remember the name of the Church. If anyone knows the name of the Church and how to access baptismal records, I'd appreciate some help.
Thank you,
Ellen Kennedy

Civil records for Fagnano Castello 1809-1910 are available on microfilm: https://familysearch.org/search/catalog ... %20Library
When was Vincenzo born? There are a number of passenger lists for Vincenzo Avolio but without knowing when he was born, it's difficult to narrow them down.

Vincenzo was born Feb. 12, 1890. He came over on the SS Cedric from Naples to NY Feb. 11, 1907. I am trying to find out info on his parents from Fagnano Castello, Gaetano Avolio and Maria Francesca Porcella. They did not come to America.
Re: Avolios in Fagnano Castello, Cosenza, Calabria
I found an older brother of Vincenzo's

Alessandro Avolio, enlisted on --/--/----

There is another entry for him with the surname misspelled as Arolio
This may or may not be your Francesca

I misread the second entry and don't believe it's yours.

Thanks Erudita for the information. Yes, Alessandro was my grandfather's oldest brother and oldest child of Gaetano Avolio and of Francesca Porcella. I had found the same records for him. There were also three more younger siblings: Cristina Avolio Abritta, Gennaro Avolio, and a sister that moved to Buonos Aires, Argentina. I do not know her name. You are correct, the second entry for Francesa Porcella is not my great grandmother. I wish I could find info for Gaetano, but nothing I found matches possible dates. Thanks again, Ellen

Have you tried emailing the town to see if you can get marriage info for Gaetano and Francesca? If you think that Alessandro was the oldest child, then possibly you can estimate the year of the marriage within a several year range and ask for the date of the marriage and the names of the parents of the spouses. Otherwise, until the records are put online, you would have to rent the microfilmed records for the town to try to get the info. Here's an email address for you to try.
