Researching the Tomasso family tree
Hi,
I have come to a stopping point in my research of my family tree and was wondering if anyone could help.
My great grandparents came to England from Cassino around 1880-1895, I can find information about them once they are in England, marriage, births etc, but nothing before. My great grandfathers name was Benedetto Tomasso, and my great grandmother was Maria Nicola Pollechia.
Would anyone be able to advise where I can try and find some information regarding their life before coming to England? Does anyone know if any records still exist pre 1940 in Cassino as I know a lot of the town was bombed so dont know if any records survived.
If anyone has any information, please email me on j.tomasso@cranfield.ac.uk
Kind regards and thanks
Joan Tomasso

Dear Riccardo,
Thank you for your reply. I have checked on this website previous to my joining the site, problem is no where seems to have details of my great grandfather so I can't seem to trace him further back.
Thanks for your advice.
Kind regards
Joan Tomasso

Joan,
Riccardo has suggested you get the microfilm of birth, deaths and marriages for your town. He gave you the link for the film numbers. This information is not available on familysearch.org. You have to use the microfilm.
Here is a post by Trish on how to use the microfilm:

Re: Researching the Tomasso family tree
Hi Suanj, I think my great grandmothers surname was Pellecchia but other people have spelt it different (alot of surnames changed in England slightly during the war)
What was her first name? My ggmother was Maria Nicola and had a sister called Felicia (approx spelling)
