I also sent the email to some other communes in the Molise area including that email that you posted. I received some return emails from other communes explaining that they didn't have any information for me and I sent it to Acquaviva d'Isernia twice with no reply back in October.

I just sent it again with your changes and my driver's license scanned so we will see what happens.

I am pretty sure that the 1900 census is abt right Maria Romano... and living at home of her brother ... the problem is to find the right arrival... of maria or Domenico, because are so many peoples with these same name ...

sorry ,
if we do not find his arrival and we are sure it is the right one, we can not know where she came from, because his name is very popular in Italy.... ditto for her brother Domenico Romano.. also the surname Milano is popular... we need to know more... when a Commune don't reply, it means that the search is negative..... the "Sariano birthplace" we do not know what it means... it is a bit hard...
I believe that the wife of Domenico Romano was born in Avigliano, no far from San Fele, or, however in the same area... and I don't believe that Maria Romano was born just 3o KM from Roma.. in the first time I thinked to Campobasso area or however in my region, but if the Communes don't replied, the search is totally negative... so, knowing the idea of italians, to marry with a woman of their same birth area, that ccan give us a better idea, that the Romanos coming from same birth area of Sebastiano LORENZO( husband of Maria ROMANO) and of Rosa SANTARSIERO (wife of Domenico ROMANO).... but where... ? I searched in many communes in Campobasso area and in Potenza area... and are some Maria Romano daughter of Giuseppe, but the mother name is different completely.. and we don't have a certain birth date of Maria Romano... so or we will find more helpful details, or it is a bit hard really...
best regards,
suanj

Sariano was a guess initially because my father was told that the town started with an S. Yes it does make more sense that she would be from the Basilicata area.

Suanj, you mentioned Rosa Santarsiero. Where did you see this last name? On the marriage license of Sebastiano and Maria, there is a Rosa Santoro listed as his mother which never made sense because I thought his mother's last name was Milano. Could Rosa have been a witness and they used her name in the line for 'mother'?

Thank you for your research and advice

Rosa Santarsiero was the wife of Domenico Romano, Brother of Maria Romano on 1900 census... in my previous replies, I found the 1900 census and also the marriage record of Domenico Romano, and his parent's names are the same of Maria Romano, so no doubts that he was the oldest brother of your Maria...the problem is to find the arrival almost of Maria... she arrived around 1899 so maybe the birthplace can be on the ship's manifest... the search continue!
