Looking for any info on the Bontempi family from Nocera Umbra. My grandfather, Silvestro, was born there on 4/23/1889. He had two brothers: Samuel and Reinaldo (not sure of those spellings).

Ugh. I was hoping to find my grand-father's birth record. He was born in 1889, but these records do not begin until 1899. Am I stuck? Do I need to find church records?

Hi Marty,
I'm in a similar situation as GrowlyGirl. My research is stuck on ancestors that precede records on FamilySearch, and not available at http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it.
At the risk of hijacking this thread, I have a general question on this topic.
How does one determine the email address to request records for a particular comune?
In my case, I'm interested in Cavaglio d'Agogna, Novara (NO) and Madesimo (Isolata), Sondrio (SO).

Thanks for the quick responses. You confirmed my findings about Cavaglio d'Agogna.
I found the comune's page and contact info, but the email was so different from the pattern for most others (like Madesimo), I thought I misunderstood. (I was expecting something like anagrafe@comune.cavaglio.no.it). Alas...

Ironic the contact is Viviana Castaldi. I wonder if we're related by my g.g.gm Annunciata Castaldi?
The next step is composing an email (in Italian)...I will post my attempt in the Translations board, and look for IG Forum feedback. Thanks!

Marty - my email was rejected. I double checked the address for typos. The failure email did not provide a reason. I used hotmail - could that be the problem? I tried Comcast as well with no luck. As a reason it said "permanent error." Finally, I tried my Comcast email again without the attachment and got the same error message. Maybe I will have to snail mail them?

That what it says the email is, if it doesn't work either snail mail or regular mail for the other emails are pec
