i wasn't sure if it was a 'e' or a 'c' like the 'c' in corluccio (mayor), but it sure does look like eremita. interesting....

Thank you, mmogno. This link helps to clarify and expand the meaning of Eremita (Hermit).

Hermits (eremiti) were people who out of (religious) devotion or extreme poverty, dedicated their life, living near a church, for the most isolated (or marginalised?), and tending to the needs of the same.
