Would you or anyone visiting this site know how to find ship manifests for steam trampers (this is what my cousin called it) that arrived in Louisiana? I am unable to find anything on this set of grandparents. the came from either Sicily or Palermo in 1900. I am assuming they got married there before boarding ship to come to the US.
Linda,

I use the New Orleans 1820-1945 passenger lists
from ancestry:

You could try first names only (without last name), filling in approximate dates for birth
& immigration year.
Sometimes just shortening the names to three letters followed by an * helps.

Chances are you may find the women your looking for under their maiden names.

It’s also possible they traveled with a relative, maybe a Pirello/Pirrello/etc.
Have you found Joe Pirello’s naturalization papers? It may have his ship listed…

VJ - does familysearch.com have italian marriage info? I am coming up empty on this. Someone told me I could do a search for Italian records, but am unsure how to do this. I think I clicked on every link I could find.

This may help zero in on a manifest if any of the DiGirolamo’s traveled with
Joe…
It could also come in handy in your Italian record search.

Oh my yes :D !
If your town(s) have been filmed, they're available to rent on microfilm.

The Library will list all of the films available for your family's
town of origin (all Italian vital records are kept in the original town)
You would go to the your local Family History Center, order your film(s)
and view them at the center when they arrive.
The centers are staffed with very helpful folks!
(call 1st for their hours)

Quite a few of us on the forum have done this for our family and
the results are amazing.
