surname Tessaro

Post by tessarojm »

hi everyone. im new at this so here goes. im trying to track down my family from Veneto. Angelo Tessaro moved to Knobview, now known as Rosati, MO. He was married to margaret tretenero and his father was Bartholemew(boltelo) Tessaro and he was married to Lucia(last unknown). Angelo was born in Staro, in 1882. Also trying to get info on Louis and Louise Piaza born in San Antonio, it. and married 1887. these are the perants of Lucille Piaza married to John Joseph Tessaro Sr who is the son of Angelo Tessaro. thanks and God Bless.

tessarojm,

Welcome - we'll all see what we can do!

I see the town of Knobview- Rosati has a great Itallian/American website.
Pretty neat that your ancestors are mentioned!
http://www.rosatimo.com/Knobview-RosatiHistory.html

Question for you:
- what records do you already have? (so we don't duplicate)
- do you have any immigration, birth, marriage, etc dates?
- do you need info for US?
- do you need info for Italy?

What do you think?

To trace your family in Italy you must know the town of origin, once you have correctly identified the town, you then have two options.........
one is to check the Lds website and see if your town of origin has been microfilmed, if you are lucky and it has, then you can go to a family history library near you, order/rent the microfilm and search as far back as the dates allow.
if there is no microfilm available, you would then send request in Italian to the town of origin.
If you are just starting out, an excellent book to obtain is by
Trafford R. Cole, "Italian Genealogical Records", it is a fast, easy read and explains in great detail Italian records and how to obtain them, wether it is civil or church.
for library,

a basic outline of Italian research,

I had to order mine from Barnes & Noble, took a couple of weeks to come in, but was well worth the wait. What I like about this particular book, as there are a number of them out there covering this subject, is that it gives you great detail without the fluff.

But before you jump across the ocean to Italy to gather records, make sure you gather your US records as well. Birth, marriage and death records, naturalization, and do not overlook church records. Census and ship manifest give great clues, and are nice to add to the family history.

Anything you need help with, post. Members here are fantastic and always willing to track down info.

Trish has written an excellent outline for using microfilm,

Mr. Tessaro,

Please contact me at email@rosati-mo.com. I don't see your email address displayed anywhere here. I own the Rosati Web site and I'm working on a family tree of Knobview/Rosati people. My grandfather and Angelo Tessaro and Louie Piazza were part of the first group of Italians who settled in Knobview in 1898.

Thanks,
Steve
