Re: Translating Birth Certificate
Do you still need to know how to do this? This is one way of navigating your way there:Jamiepalma2 wrote:So when I go to family search what do i click on first to get to the area that you have been scanning through?
Click on “Search”
Click on Italy on the map
Scroll down to “Italy”
Scroll down to the relevant province e.g. Italy, Pescara, Pescara, Civil Registration (Tribunale), 1865-1910
Click on “Browse through ….... images (in this case it is 421,992
Click on Pescara
Click on Pianella
This will bring up the records available for you to search for the town of Pianella.
Click on the time frame and particular records you are looking for.
You'll end up at this image here: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cc=2043788
You can either use the arrow on the right of no 1048 to click on the next image or you can click on gallery (eight dots) below the plus and minus sign, which will display thumbnails of all the images on that particular film. Basically you will be able to see where each new year begins and where the indices are. To zoom in, click on the image you would like to look at and either click on the arrows again, to go forward or backwards, or reclick on gallery (eight dots) and you'll be back to the thumbnail images.
Hope this helps.

Re: Translating Birth Certificate
Thank you for taking the time to translate those for me. I feel horrible to keep asking. I tried to translate them myself today and couldn't even get close to being able to. I was looking through previous post and saw you had found your family members military record. Where can I find those at? I had family from pianella in the military and I had family from Sicily that were in the military and I believe stationed in Tripoli Africa where they ended up passing away.
Also, thank you for walking me through the FamilySearch steps. That was very helpful and I really appreciate all the help you have given me.

Re: Translating Birth Certificate
You are very welcome.
Don't worry about asking for help with translations, there is always someone here that can help. I think that it is really great that you are locating the records. That can take a while and be really tiring.
Re the military records, I'm a bit rushed for time at the moment because I need to go out. It's also not a straightforward answer because it depends on when and where your ancestor was born. I would suggest that you start a separate thread for Military Records (hit "new post", maybe in Italian Genealogy forum), stating the name of the ancestor you are looking for, which town they were born in, when they were born (dob), and both parents names. Someone will be able to advise you which State Archives to write to and then we can help you with a letter, if required. Some of your military records may even be on line.
You might find this site here helpful: http://www.cadutigrandeguerra.it/Default.aspx It is basically dedicated to those soldiers who have been killed during the war. Go to this image here and write the name of your anscestor, who may have died: http://www.cadutigrandeguerra.it/CercaNome.aspx
