Struggling with researching Tremonti

Post by Tremonte »

I am having trouble finding my great grandfather’s birth town in Italy to be able to obtain a birth certificate. I believe it is in the Avellino/Napoli area. I have found the information below:
- Names used:
1) Luardo Tremonti
2) Eduardo Tremonti
3) Eduardo Tremonte
4) Lurado Tremonte

- Birthplaces listed:
1) O’Pondi, Avellino (listed on his USA WWII draft card)
2) Viliua, Italy (listed on his marriage license)
3) Serino, Italy (listed on USA immigration passenger manifest)
4) Surviving family thinks he was born in Napoli but they are not certain

He was born on December 21, 1889 to Urbano Tremonti and Antonia Vedrania (looks like a misspelling – can’t find this surname anywhere)

He immigrated to the United States on the ship Massilia from Napoli to Ellis Island. Arrived May 22, 1905. He was 16 at the time he emigrated, so I am unsure if he would have any Italian military conscription or draft papers.

He died on August 8, 1947 in Westport, Connecticut, USA

Any help would be immensely appreciated as I have hit a dead end.

Hi, abt
1) O’Pondi, Avellino (listed on his USA WWII draft card)
O' Pondi in dialect means ponte in italian Language= bridge.
In Serino the hamlets are: San Giuseppe, San Biagio, Strada, Grimaldi, San Sossio, Troiani, Guanni, Casancino, Ribottoli, San Gaetano, Fontanelle, Sala, Doganavecchia, Raiano, San Giacomo, Ponte, Ferrari, Cretazzo, Pescarole, Canale, Toppole, Ogliara
2) Viliua, Italy (listed on his marriage license)
this word is Vilina= Avellino mispelled
3) Serino, Italy (listed on USA immigration passenger manifest)
Serino right, and he was born in Ponte (hamlet) of Serino town
here the Church in Ponte di (of) Serino:
