Help with Iorio death record

Post by pm16 »

Hello,
I'm having trouble translating this record. I believe it is a death record for Benedetto Iorio, but I'm having a lot of trouble reading the handwriting.

Can someone please help me out with this one?

Thank you!

Difficult record to decipher

Dated March 17, 1765, folio #22, he died at age 24. Benedetto's father was Francesco di Iorio and his mother's name looks like Francesca di C...o. The middle letters in her last name are hard to decipher. I was considering Corvo, but can't say it's that. They were spouses in Morrone. Benedetto was buried in the parish church of Morrone. I believe his cause of death is also given in the record, but I can't decipher that info (morto con infermita`-I can't decipher the next word). This extracted copy of his death act was for use for Giuseppe Maria Iorio's marriage.

You're very welcome. You could be correct about the name being Cocco, as I know that surname is found in the town. It's really difficult to say for sure though, based on the handwriting in the record. The parish was S. Maria Maggiore, which you may already know.

Thanks! No I didn't know the parish. I don't think any of the church records for that parish are online though :(
