I am going to have to look into that profession. I know a lot of the family were barbers. I wonder if it relates to that. Could they have meant viaticale. maybe the spelled it wrong?

(Vetturale/Vettorale: I've seen it translated as “cabman” - “coachman” - “carrier”.)
