I am wondering about June sanguinis for Italian citizenship. Here are my facts:
Paternal Grandfather and Grandmother born in Italy in 1880s.
Grandfather emigrated to US a few times and while here became a US naturalized citizen in the 1920s. Grandmother never came to US.
Father born in Italy in 1928, after father received US citizenship. Grandfather continued to go back and forth between US and Italy until the early 1930s, when he remained permanently in Italy until his death.
Father didn't come to US until 1951 on a US passport (we think).
I was born in 1958 in the US.
Questions:
1. Did my grandfather give up his Italian citizenship when he became a naturalized citizen?
(note: I have a US document that says my grandfather has repatriated to Italy dated in the 1930s).
2. If my father came on a US passport does that mean he gave up Italian citizenship? Or is he a dual citizen because he was born in Italy to a US father?
3. Could I get Italian citizenship thru my grandfather? My grandmother (who never came to US or became a citizen)?
Any insight you can give would be great!

Re: Italian citizenship question
Please post this at www.italiancitizenship.freeforums.org I think BBCWatcher will be able to answer your question.
I believe it is possible that your father retained his citizenship, but you will get a more definitive response at the site I recommended.
