Marriage of Biaggio Vultaggio & Catarina

Post by sacesta »

The marriage record of Rocco Vultaggio and Bartolomea Tristaino indicates that Rocco's parents were Biaggio Vultaggio & Catarina.

I searched the volumes of marriage records for both the Chiesa San Silvestro Papa and San Giuliano Martire for Biaggio & Catarina and found one Vultaggio in the B index of each parish.

The first cannot be my ancestor. He is clearly listed in the index as Bartolomeo Vultaggio and his bride is Giovanni Simoni? If his given name is not a deal-breaker, his bride's name is. That index page is here:

The second shows more promise. If I misread Biaggio's first name on his son's marriage record then this could be the ancestor I'm looking for. He is also shown as Bartolomeo Vultaggio, but in this case his bride is Catarina. Ninth entry from the top referring clearly to page 125.

But I cannot find this Vultaggio anywhere on page 125 nor on any other pages in the vicinity.

So, I'm at an impasse here. I guess what I'm looking for is for someone to verify that the Vultaggio marriage record is not on this page (or, hopefully, that it is :)

Thanks again for your help.

I don't know where you got the first name Biaggio for Rocco's father. Here's a link to Rocco's records. (one is lower left and the other on the right page).

His father's first name looks like a form of Cosmo to me, although it appears to be spelled in Latin Cosmoti, so I believe it is some other first name. Perhaps someone else can decipher it more accurately. It is neither Biaggio nor Bartolomeo.

Yes, this is the marriage record for Rocco & Bartolomea Tristaino dated 26 Apr 1682. Looking at it now, I don't see where I got Biaggio's name from either. An error in my record keeping. I can see where Rocco's father's name may be Cosimo or something close. That will certainly make a difference in how I approach the search for his records.

Thanks again Erudita.

It can get confusing when trying to work on too many lines at once, especially when you have difficult records to decipher.

Happy to have helped, Steve.
