Marriage Record - Pasquale Ruggiero/Tommasina Vacca

Post by cdemarco »

Hi, I have a marriage record that I'm finding hard to read. I can pretty much get the top part (names and places where born/live), but from what I can tell from the bottom part (starting "La notificazione di questa promessa..." down to the end), it looks slightly different from the usual bureaucratic stuff, mostly because it seems to mention Pasquale Ruggiero's hometown of Moiano. I was wondering if it said anything interesting, considering it looks like Tommasina Vacca is a foundling, plus I know from birth records that this couple's first child is born a month after this marriage record. Any help would be appreciated!

The part that begins "La notificazione..." indicates that the banns of marriage (annoucement) was posted on 25 April, including in the town of Moiano, and on 2 June. (This was required by law)

The last paragraph speaks of the documents presented to the official including the acts of birth of the spouses; the act of death of the father and grandfather of the groom; the certificate of notification in this town resulting in no opposition to the marriage.

Thanks for the quick reply! And it's good to have confirmation that the groom's father was dead before the marriage. Nothing about the lack of bride's family, I guess then. Darn. Oh well, thanks again!

All it says about Tommasina Vacca is that she was 28, born and residing in Mirabella, daughter of unknown father and unknown mother.

Sorry :(

Do you have her birth act?
Should be found on this microfilm for Mirabella Eclano births.

I haven't ordered that film yet, though it's on my list! I didn't figure the marriage record said much, but always good to double check in case my lack of Italian and difficulty in deciphering handwriting missed anything. :D
