DiPasquantonios & DiBiagios from Teramo province in Abruzzo

Post by biotechgeney »

I've been searching for my great-grandparents' families for years. Battista DiPasquantonio (parents John(Giovanni??) and Vincenza(?)) was born in Villa Paterno in 1896 and Silvia DiBiagio (parents Domenico and Concetta) was born in 1900 in Roiano. Silvia had a sister that also immigrated to the US with her. I think Battista had other siblings some that stayed in Abruzzo and others that immigrated to Brazil. I'm not sure if Silvia had other siblings. I'm interested in info about their parents and other siblings they may have in order to figure out more about my ancestry from them.

Neither of these towns exist in Abruzzo. Maybe you should check your sources for the town of birth. The only DiPasquantonio in today's phone book is in Giulianove, in the Province of Teramo. The only DiBiagio in today's phone book are in Trieste, which is where I get a hit if I search for Roiano.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for your reply. Both do in fact exist and are definitely the villages in which they were born. A cousin of mine visited a few decades ago, but haven't had any luck getting info about the family from her. Roiano and Paterno are both frazioni of Campli in Abruzzo, very tiny villages with only a few roads.

You can see them listed on the side under Frazioni: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campli
Roiano and Paterno are both there.

Also here are google map links to their locations in Abruzzo:
Roiano- https://www.google.com/maps/place/64012 ... d13.640137

Paterno-

Hi Villa Paterno, is Paterno hamlet of Avezzano town( L'Aquila province, Abruzzo region), and Roiano is hamlet of Campli town (Teramo province, Abruzzo region)... so the search abt civil records can be made in Avezzano and Campli...

Hi Suanj,
Looks like there is a Paterno in Avezzano, as well as Campli. My ggpa was from the one in Campli. I haven't found a suitable online search for Campli records. Do you have a good web address?

Thanks!

Hi there!

As there are very few records for the province of Teramo online you may have to contact the comune direct for this information. All you need is a name and year of birth and they will be able to search through the birth records for you. They should then send you an official copy of the document you are looking for. You can email the comune at Campli here, but I would follow it up with a phone call if possible as sometime emails tend to get ignored here:

http://www.comune.campli.te.it/index.php/contattaci

And if you need help with the translating there are form letters here:

http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tter2.html

If you need any specific help you can PM me. I may be able to help as I work out of Abruzzo.

All the very best for your search!

Villa Paterno in Campli is where my father, Emidio Pettinaro, is from. Do you have any Pettinaro's in your lineage. Sabatino Pettinaro/Anna Chiara Cialini had two sons -- Son Antonio Pettinaro/Giovanna Scafini is my grandfather. Antonio's brother was Donato Pettinaro who married Michaelina Scafini. My father Emidio and his brother Valerio immigrated to the US in the early 1900s.
