Fanteria di Marcia???

Post by nrepole »

Can someone explain what is meant by term Fanteria di Marcia?http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag3 ... yeqafn.png

Attached is taken from my relative's WW1 military record. I know that
Fanteria refers to foot soldiers but what is signified by 'Marcia'?
? Marching soldiers ?

Kind regards
Nick

Nick

I think that the forum to which mmogno gave you a link basically indicates that they were soldiers assigned to marching regiments, as you already seem to know.

Can I ask you what town your ancestor was from? I had found some websites on an Italian search engine, but don't know if anything I see would apply to your ancestor. Possibly you could upload more of your document to the forum, as there might be additional info there which could aid in the search.

Yes, Erudita, I have attached more of my ancestor's military record:

He was from Rapone, in the Province of Potenza, Basilicata.

Many thanks

Buongiorno.
