Caterina Rosato

Post by khoney »

Please take a look at the attached and help with missing or incorrect information.

https://familysearch.org/search/film/00 ... cc=1947686

number 117

Death of Pasquale Battista on 5 December 1876
Deceased mother’s name Caterina Rosato?

http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... 4.jpg.html

number 10

Death of Caterina Rosato on 22 Feb 1841
What does it say between born in Chiaromonte and her profession?
Daughter of deceased Nicola and deceased ?

I am not certain is this is actually the Catrina Rosato who was married in 1808 when her first child Pasquale Battista was born. She and her husband Giovanni had another son Francisco in about 1811. Giovanni died in 1814. She is shown as living when both of her sons were married in the 1830's. None of the records refer to the name of Catrina's parents.

Other than obtaining the church record of the marriage between Giovanni and Catrina does anyone have a suggestion of where to look next?

Thank you,
Karen

Your first link is to a marriage.

In the second record, after her place of birth is "di anni novantasette" - age 97 years.
Her mother is the deceased Antonia Dursi.

Thank you Tessa,

I believe I located the correct Catrina Rosata. The age is close to the two other references I have and this show her husband was Giovanni Battista. Please take a look and tell me if this needs correction.

number 4

Death of Caterina Rosato on 27 January 1846, age 60, widow of Giovanni Battista, daughter of deceased Giovanni and deceased Lucia Donato?

Thank you for reply Anthony.

Unfortunately the Caterina Rosato who died on 22 Feb 1841 was about 40 years older than the Catrina I am looking for. The second death record from 1846 I think is the correct Catrina but need confirmation my translation is correct.

The death certificate states much more (who declared the death, where she died, the mayor , etc) but it looks like you have it correct. Personally I could not read the year of death.

You should know that the Italian gov server for the years before the formation of the of Italy in 1861 has not been digitized. So I cannot access records from our terminal. Too old.

Thank you Tessa for reviewing my translation of this death record.

Another general question, on the death record for Caterina dated 1941 Number 10 there is no reference to a husband while the parents are listed so the informants should have known her. Is it safe to assume that this Caterina never married?

Thank you Anthony for the information on the abandoned property registry.

Hard to say for certain. Usually a husband (living or deceased) would be mentioned, but this woman was age 97, and the two declarants were ages 22 and 37.
