Dual Citizenship through ICGS / myitaliancitizenship.com

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Dual Citizenship through ICGS / myitaliancitizenship.com

Post by marista »

My family and I would like to get dual citizenship in Italy. I have figured out that we are eligible, and am wondering if anyone here has done this. If so, how did you go about it? Did you use a service? The one I am considering is myitaliancitizenship.com (ICGS) and I am curious if anyone has experience with them, or with the process in general.

Thanks!

Italian citizenship is a serious matter. There is an organization call my italian family.com and Italiamerica.com that provides guidance. Peter

I understand that it is a serious matter--that is why I am trying to find out if ICGS is a reputable service to go through.

Italiamerica.com does not exist, by the way.

Dear Marista I am very curious as to what your responsiblities as an italian are since the website you furnished ICGS only speaks of benefits and makes no mention of responsiblities as to taxes, military service etc. Peter

I'm not sure if I read it on there or somewhere else, but I know that military obligations are only an issue if you are male (which I am not) and between 18 and 45 I think, and are residing in Italy. Taxes would probably be a good thing to look into, although I really doubt they would charge taxes to citizens who had never worked in Italy.

i prefer myitalianfamily.com because they are professional and not pushy.
just read the requirements and obtain documents from italy via this service while obtaining US documents by using the telephone and doing the legwork here. An attorney will do the same but charge for obtaining documents you can easily obtain yourself here. get the facts then start making calls to get your answers!

Mr. lemarche I would not be so "pushy" and recommend that people do without the services of any attorney since citizenship is important and rules, regulations, policy and procedures often change and only an attorney who is on top of the situation is the suggestion that makes the most sense for people seeking advice. I'm sure that 13 years after the original post OP has their answer. For the benefit of anyone searching for a recent experience with ICGS, I'm here to tell you that the service is reputable and I was able to easily secure my grandfather's birth certificate. Of course, it helped that I had the details of his birth correct (i.e. Correct date and correct spelling of his name and both parents' names). I think it took about two months from first contact to the arrival of the document in my mailbox. I have absolutely nothing critical to say about these people.

TSettimo, I just wanted to thank you for your comment. Even though the post is old, I found it in my search and it is helpful.

I've located all but a few of the documents I need, but since I don't have a lot of time to devote to this, or knowledge of the process, I plan to hire one of the services to put it all together for me. So far I'm looking at italyMONDO, my Italian family, ICAP, and ICGS.(there really are a lot of them) Anyway, if anyone has comments of their experience I'd be very glad to hear them. I'm also open to other suggestions too.

Thanks,

Max

Has anyone had experience with myitaliancitizenship.com lately? Although I'd used it previously for some documents from Italy, and was satisfied, I've had a sudden silence of about six weeks while trying to work out some information about pending requests.
