Livio
Why are the dates of the banns after the date of the marriage in this record? If you look at other records in this section, the bann dates always precede the marriage date. Also what does the handwritten part mean that comes after the printed words Impedimento detecto? Those are reasons why I didn't translate this record before I went to bed last night. The last two words "periculo mortis" mean "danger of dying." Thanks, Erudita.

It clearly states "postmissis" instead of "praemissis".
"subscripto in lectolo jacente ??? periculo mortis"

My understanding is that the marriage took place without banns because one of the two spouses was in danger of death

Very strange indeed

Thanks Livio
What you deciphered after "impedimento detecto" were the exact words I saw last night. I even wrote in my notes that the handwritten statement meant that the marriage took place before the banns were announced because one of the spouses was laying in bed (or confined to a bed) in danger of dying. I think the marriage did take place quickly due to one of the spouses being close to death, and that's why the banns were announced after the fact. I've never seen anything like this before. I guess a death record needs to be found.

*There is a Lucia Mannina, age 79, who was of unknown parents, who died on Nov 30th, 1908 ( #279), but there is no death record for either of the spouses named in the marriage record. I went through all of the online records until the end in 1910.

I just found Giuseppe's death info in the death index which goes to 1917. He died on Aug 26, 1914. I can't find Lucia Milazzo in the index at all. Also two siblings of his-Blasia (Biaggia) on Aug 26, 1909, and Giovanni on Dec 1, 1912, in case you want this info as well.

Wow, thanks for the info. Giovanni was my gr gr grandfather. I did an ancestry DNA and seem to have a connection with someone who is an descendent of Giuseppe but she said his wife's name was Maria Rosa Sansona. I am not sure this Giuseppe is the same one who is Giovanni's brother. Leoluca and Anna are my 5x great grandparents. Thanks so much. This is amazing. Really appreciate all the help.
