above is the marriage record of Giuseppe Musti and Venanza Maiale, I have always looked on the right side of the record and thought that was the day they were actually married, 2/20/1838. I came across someone online that had this couple in their tree and they inputted the marriage date of January 11th. Who's correct? Thank you

You have the correct date for the marriage in the church (Feb 20, 1838). The left side of the document is just a solemn promise to marry. It is not a marriage.

Thank you Erudita, that's what I thought but then doubted myself. The person that has it incorrect lives in Italy. You would think she (of all people) should know! Grazie!
