Hi all. Like many here I am trying to figure out whether or not I qualify for Italian citizenship through Jus Sanguinis. My line of descent goes; Great Great Grandfather -> Great Grandfather -> Grandmother -> Mother. I am worried that I might not qualify because while my mother was born 1958, my grandmother was born 1935.
Tell me straight, is my dream of Italian citizenship dead in the water??

As long as a naturalization did not end the citizenship line, you qualify. Your gm, though born before 1948, obtained citizenship through her male line.

Bear in mind the relatively recent development (see my post of last week on the 1948 Luigi Paiano thread) whereby judges hearing cases which go down the grandmother's lineage (which includes my own) now wish to see evidence of why you cannot obtain citizenship through your grandfather.
For me, that means obtaining a certified and apostilled certificate of my grandfather's naturalisation from the National Archives, and awaiting a third hearing in four months time.

Huh, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Do you think our cases are really the same? Do you live in the UK? I read your most recent post, and it sounds like there may be some extra factors going on. What is your line of decent? My line of descent does start with my GG-GF and then my G-GF.

Rosie, yours is not a 1948 case so, no, you need not be concerned with any other line.
