Yet More translation help

Post by poliquie »

Here are several documents that I need assistance on deciphering. Thanks in advance for your assistance, it is greatly appreciated. :D

This is the birth record of my great uncle Antonio Sgroi, born to Salvatore Sgroi and Carmela Lo Cicero
Can you verify the date of his birth? I believe it is 1884, but relatives state they thought he was born Dec 24, 1885, although they dont have any documentation supporting any specific date

Here are several records on Rosa Sgroi, born to Salvatore Sgroi and Carmela LoCicero.

I have seen conflicting information that there were 3 daughters born with the same name, assuming that 2 died, and only one lived to adulthood, and that there were only 2. I believe there may be 3 birth records, and I have only found 1 death record. Can you verify this and tell me the dates of each? And if possible, tell me which one the death record is for?

This is the birth record of Giuseppe Sgroi born 1888? to Giuseppe Sgroi b. 1857? and Antonina Lo Cicero b. 1856
I believe this was the husband to the Rosa Sgroi born in 1892.
Can you verify that info for me? Also what was the date of their marriage?

You've posted two copies of the same death record for Rosa-died on June 24th 1891 at 8 months.

The birth record for Rosa-the date at the top is blocked by a message which reads "familysearch.org is now full screen. Exit full screen."-the date I can see is Dec 17th, but I can't tell you the year of the birth record.

Giuseppe born on Feb 9, 1888. Yes, married Rosa Sgroi, but I can't read the marriage date in the margin. Sorry.

Thank you, I would assume if the death record is listing her birth, then the year of birth would be 1890 because she was 8 months at the time of death

You may have misunderstood what Erudita has said here?

Here are the details of the Birth Record, which has the year of birth concealed, which I believe Erudita is referring to:

Birth Record No 355: Rosa Sgroi

She was born on 18 December 1887, Via Spina. Born to Salvatore Sgroi, 43 yo, farmer and Carmela Lo Cicero, 34 yo

Link to said Birth Record:

Just a suggestion: It would be really helpful if you could please supply us with the links to the images that you want us to look at, as I have done here. They are usually so much easier for us to work. Thank you.

Angela :)

Sorry, I thought the documents were sufficient. I usually find them and download them, so I have the record.

There were at least 2 Rosa Sgroi' but I think there are 3, so I think the record you posted is from the first one, she was born 1887, then there must be a death record prior to the death of the 2nd Rosa Sgroi born in 1890 then died 8 months later in 1891. Death record no 22: Rosa Sgroi

Then the 3rd Rosa Sgroi was born 1892

I suspect that the first Rosa Sgroi, born 1887, whose birth record I have supplied here, died in 1888. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be Death Records for 1888 online, unless they are out of order. I had a look through the death records from the birth of the first Rosa Sgroi in 1887 to the birth of the second Rosa Sgroi 1890 and didn't see a death record there for her. It certainly looks like there were three Rosa's born to Salvatore and Carmela, unless there is an error with the age in the 1891 death record. :)
