Re: Translation of Angelinas Birth Certicate
Question:
Are you thinking that this "other" Salvatore Di Marco, who was born about 1865-67 in Casteltermini, is the father of Francesca and the husband of Concetta Di Marco ?
Searches will show that there are quite a few immigrants named Salvatore Di Marco in New York.
The father of Marietta, Calogero, Antonio and Giuseppa is consistently listed with ages that put his birth about 1845 give or take a couple of years.

Re: Translation of Angelinas Birth Certicate
I might have over reacted here T, only reason being the mothers maiden name here is Tagliarino, a close resemblance of the name Tagliarini being the family that Marietta Di Marco married into in 1898. Also on the 1910 Jersey City census showing my grandfather Louis was living with Francesco and Marietta Tagliareni, also this would put Salvatore's age closer to Concettas. My head is spinning....We need a emoji for that. Lol
I do believe we have found the correct family, showing Colegro being my grandfather Louis without a doubt. The letter I mailed to Sicily is in route to its final destination as we speak, Sicily's correspondence is crucial with the continuation of my search. New Jersey has made it difficult for me to obtain Concettas death cert hopefully showing a clean spelling of her maiden name. They want proof of relationship (my grandfathers birth certificate) who was born in Sicily? Funny though on how every death cert with raised seal I've ordered out of New York came with no problems. It just gets frustrating T,
sometimes I feel like I'm chasing my tail, like you have said with all the Salvatore's out there
Its all good though T, nothing worth while is easy, and good things come to those who wait.
Again thanking you for all you've done.

Re: Translation of Angelinas Birth Certicate
Well said, James!
By the way, the surname Tagliareni is very common in Cammarata. The surname Tagliarino and Tagliarini are also found in Agrigento, but generally not in Cammarata. [Tagliarino is found in Casteltermini... and other towns in Arigento] In addition, immigrants tended to settle in communities/neighborhoods in the USA where others from their towns settled. So it would not be unusual to see the name appear in marriages for a group from Cammarata.
I am very interested to see what the documents from the comune have to reveal!

Re: Translation of Angelinas Birth Certicate
T,
May I ask what would Colegero's birth certificate look like from Cammerata Sicily. Would it be the same document that you posted here on this website. The reason I'm asking since the State is asking for his birth certificate to obtain Concettas death certificate I'll copy and send it in.. or is there another official document to obtain.

Yes, the record link I posted is to a digitized image of the actual record (a photo of the record in the book of births for that year).

However, if you need a certified copy of the birth act - you can request from the comune of Cammarata

Re: Translation of Angelinas Birth Certicate
Hello James,
They have sent you the extract of marriage of Concetta Di Marco [daughter of Calogero and of Francesca Lo Muzzo] who married with Salvatore Di Marco [son of Antonino and of Maria Cancemi] born in Pietraperzia, EN. They consulted the birth registers of the town from 1820 to 1886 but found no birth certificate in the name of Concetta Di Marco. They suggest you contact the Church of St. Nicolo di Bari, the mother church of Cammarata.
They say that by error there are no places of birth listed for the couple
The correct marriage extract is attached.
Signed by the official Ileana Francesca Marullo
NOTE: Unfortunately, the image is so small I cannot read it
I tried to enlarge it but I cannot read the date of the marriage. I CAN read their ages - 34 and 19.

Take a peek.... Going with the information above from the commune of Cammarata with Salvatore parents names being Antonio and Maria Cancemi. I came across on family search website a death certificate of a Salvatore who died on January 27 1899 and who is buried in Malden Massachusetts USA ( above link). This would explain to me that Salvatore was still alive in New York City in 1898 during Marietta wedding and why Concetta remarried in 1904 in New York City. Also the possibility of why Concetta is not buried with Salvatore. Also it looks like this Salvatore had a brother named Luigi born 1859 to 1905 from the town of Canicatti......Do you think this is a possible match.
Its been a bit frustrating trying to get a death certificate for Concetta with the states vital statistics here in New Jersey, receiving another deficiency letter today with instructions of having the foreign birth certificate of Colegero (Louis) to be translated by a certified translator or obtaining a court order for her death certificate. Some how I need to confirm Concettas maiden name, its the missing piece. I'm sorry to continuously lean on you, but you've been a big help to me this being the furthest I ever got with my search. PS, My head is spinning.....
James
Re: Translation of Angelinas Birth Certicate
I think you have found the death of your Salvatore.
The parents are the same, though misspelled mother's surname.
Two questions...
Where do you see a brother Luigi?
Do you not believe the records that Concetta's maiden name is Di Marco?
