surnames caputo and reda from mendicino

Post by vdzanden »

we are taking trip to Italy 4/17/03 and woud like to find relatives.
<BR>Domenico caputo was born 1855 and came to USA in 1884 ad 1900 and resided in Portland, Oregon. Carolina Reda, born 1874, came to USA to marry Domenico in 1902. Her sister, Rosaria Reda came in 1903 to marry Francesco Lombardi in 1903. There were two sisters in Italy and maybe two brothers. Their nephew, Domeico (jack)Reda came to the USA in 1911 at the age of 18. His brother, Luigi, born 1904 came to USA for a visit in 1975. We were told Jack was an child born out of wedlock of one of the sisters, therefore we do not think Jack and Luigi had the same last name. The Reda\'s we know came from Mendicino. I have an address for Luigi Reda 60 V Basso LaMotta, Mendicino and Luigi Reda at 11,ctr Basso LaMotta and Domenico Caputo 5,V.Degliorti, Mendicino. Is there anyway to Email someone in Mendicino to verify if we are related to these Reda\'s? Ray Vanderzanden

whats wrong with a letter??? You can write a lettere in Italian (nearby H.School with language Dept or college with language dept) or you can write in very simple english since English is the second language in Italy and tauhgt in the schools. If you wish to find an e-mail direcotry go to www.mailory.tin.it and for current addresses go to www.paginebianche.it. Peter

reda and caputo

Post by vdzanden »

Peter,
Thanks for your information. We sent 25 letters to Cosenza and Mendicino

along with a return envelope and International Postage Coupon. The letters were sent to Reda's and Caputo's with same given names from our family. In Yahoo we found Free Translation English to Italian and the letters were sent in both languages. I think time is now against us as we leave April 17 and this may not be enough time to get replies. I'm now trying to find the proper address to send birth requests to Vital Records in
Cosenza and to advise them when we will be in cosenza and hopefully they will let us pick them up and pay for them at th same time. Can you help with the address? Thanks, Sharon Vanderzanden
