Cantieri - Great Grandparents Information

I am looking for information on My Great Grandparents.

I am looking for Records. Birth Certificates, Exactly where they lived in Capannori with my Great Great Grandparents. I believe this is the correct information concerning their origins.


Great Grandfather - Guiseppe Cantieri - Born in Verciano, Capannori, Lucca, Toscana, Italy December 8, 1874

Parents - Silvestro Cantieri - I believe to be born in the same place. Death Records of Guiseppe's Siblings - Adelaide and Guiseppe indicate that he was living there and his Grandfather - GIovani Dominico or Bartolomew were also living in Capannori. I believe also from these records that he was born approximately 1840 and Giovanni Dominico would be approximately 1824. Church attended maybe St. Stefano.

I have no information on My Great Great Grandmother Margherita. No maiden name or parent information. Death Record of child indicates her father only first name Cosimo

Great Grandmother Clotilde Bernardi - I believe to be born in possibly St. Anna, Lucca, Italy August 2, 1875.
Her Death Certificate in Chicago states only Lucca, Italy. Death Certificate lists her parents as Saula, Marriage Certificate has his name listed as Saulle Bernardini, Mother is listed as Philicina Betti on Death Certificate and Marriage Certificate as Felice Betti.


Any information/Records would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the birth act of Giuseppe Cantieri, son of Silvestro, in 1874
#1451 - dated 10 December 1874 - birth on the 8th at 10 PM
Father: Silvestro Cantieri [son of deceased Giovan Domenico] age 49, shoemaker residing in Verciano
Mother: Margherita Cantieri (this is her maiden name) [daughter of deceased Cosimo Cantieri], his wife.
The child was given the name Giuseppe Maria.

The side note indicates that onn 5 November 1894 he married with Clotilde Bernardini in the Comune of Capannori - Act #331

S. Anna is a frazione (hamlet) of the Comune of Stazzema, Lucca.
I have been checking the birth acts for years 1873-1877 for Clotilde, but have not found her. In fact, I have not found any Bernardini listings in Stazzema.

The marriage link I posted above #108 - is actually a transcription entered into Parte II of the register in Lucca.

Found her... Clotilde's birth act is in the Lucca Register - 1875 - #1230
There is a notation of her marriage to Giuseppe Cantieri in the margin
Dated 4 August 1875 in the town of Lucca.
Appearing before the official was Saulle Bernardini [son of deceased Cosimo] age 24, stone mason residing in S. Anna, to declare that at 2 AM on the 2nd day of the current month, was born to Felice Betti, his wife, housewife residing with him [daughter of Iacapo] a female child who was not presented to the official and who was given the name CLOTILDE MARIA ARMIDA

Still no success with marriage acts... BUT here is the death of a son of Saul(le) Bernardini in 1899 in S. Anna.
Based on his age at death (21), Cosimo, who appears to be named after Saulle's father, was born about 1878

Appearing to declare the death were Fedele Martinelli [son of deceased Salvatore], age 64, farmer residing in S. Anna; and Francesco Cardella [son of deceased Pasquale], age 37, farmer; both residing S. Pietro.
Died on 27 April at 10 AM at home in S. Anna -
COSIMO Bernardini, age 21, farmer residing in S. Anna, born in S. Anna to Saul, farmer, and of Felice Betti, housewife, residing in S. Anna; [the deceased was] unmarried.

You've helped me so much in the past that I thought I'd throw one your way. Is not the parent's records as wished for, but nonetheless is a sibling of Giuseppe (as to Silvestro, and with his approximate YOB being ca. 1825, that series year does not appear to be available):

#325 - dated 10 March 1871 - birth on the 8th at 2 AM
Father: Silvestro Cantieri [son of deceased Giovan Domenico], farmer, residing in Verciano
Mother: Margherita Cantieri [daughter of deceased Cosimo Cantieri], his wife, farmer.
The child was given the name Onesto Rocco

Howard: My gal's paternal 3x great grandmother was Caterina Cantieri. She was probably born around 1775-ish (educated guess) and married a Pelosi (Gio Antonio). She had at least 3 children, born in 1794 (Rosa), 1799 (Francesco) and 1808 (Egiziaca). I've had no luck finding any more Cantieri's, but, truth be told, I haven't looked all that hard for them (at this juncture, there's only one Cantieri in her tree; Caterina). My gal's ancestors behind/beyond her paternal grandmother virtually all came from nearby Badia di Cantignano and Vorno, so I've almost entirely concentrated my search there. BTW, she descends from Francesco Pelosi. Her paternal grandfather also came from Gallicano, Lucca. Her grandparents met in the States after emigrating in 1912 and 1915, respectively, and then married in 1919 in San Francisco. All told, I've mined well over 500+ records for Carol's Tree in Capannori and Gallicano, so my familiarity with these records is not insignificant.

Thanks again guy's. You have been great. I have found some additional information that may be helpful in finding additional records. I have Silvestro death January 27, 1909 in Verciano. Father Giovanni Domenico and mother Assunta Ciaponi -

Margherita Cantieri, born 1831, died Vericano April 10, 1915 Father - Cosimo Cantieri and mother Assunta Ciucci

Children that I don't have records: Giovanni Adolfo Cantieri Died July 12, 1868 aged 1 year 8 months and 21 days

Maria Assunta Zeffira Canteri: Died July 10, 1870 age 1 year 4 months and 18 days

Rocco Onesto Cantieri: Birth Record you found Death September 15, 1872
