what translations needed at Miami Consulate
what translations needed at Miami Consulate
I collected all the birth records and marriage certificates from Italy for grandparents. Then I collected their death certificates, my parents birth certificates and marriage certificate from the US and my birth certificate. Here's my question since I have been receiving different answers. What documents need to be translated for the Miami Consulate. I have been told so many different things I am totally confused now. Thanks.
Re: what translations needed at Miami Consulate
Even their website is confusing, it first says " Certificates relating to the applicant’s family (his or her birth certificate, marriage certificate, birth certificates of minor children) in languages other than Italian must be translated into Italian."
And then right under it it states " IN GENERAL, U.S. VITAL STATISTICS CERTIFICATES RELATING TO ASCENDANTS REQUIRE APOSTILLE BUT NO TRANSLATION , WHILE ALL ASCENDANTS’ DOCUMENTS FROM COUNTRIES OTHER THAN THE US REQUIRE APOSTILLE (WHERE APPROPRIATE) AND TRANSLATION STAMPED BY THE COMPETENT ITALIAN CONSULATE"
I emailed them (which surprisingly they typically respond to me), but they have not answered my question in a couple weeks.
Let me know what you discover.

It does seem confusing, but the first paragraph should be your guide. Ascendent documents should also be translated; the apostilles do NOT require translations.
