State Archives, index # does not match page.

Post by jrd01 »

Hello, I'm going through the index for birth's in Turi, Bari for the year 1863.

I'm trying to find Cosmo Vito Decarolis, who is stated to be index #56.

But when I open the image for the index page #56, I don't believe this page is his.

Any ideas on what the issue could be? Thank you!

Below is the page showing Cosmo Vito Decarolis as index #56

The #56 in this index does not refer to the record number, but rather the number in the ordered list of births.
As you found out, you need to use the date of birth that is listed in this index to locate the birth act.
