Wife's Documentation

Post by Spera219 »

Well almost done with acquiring all my docs for my citizen application. I have some name change issues that i'll need to work out, but I think I'm in good shape.

Anyway, my original plan was to gain citizenship and then get my wife's through me. It seems faster and less hassle. Since the change in law, I decided to have her go through Jure Sanguinis (she qualifies).

Since she took my last name I'm wondering if there will be a problem getting her GGF's birth certificate from Italy? When i sent a letter for mine, I included a copy of my drivers license and received the documents with no problem.

Should I send our marriage cert and a photo id? What do you think? Thanks!

I doubt it, but perhaps in requesting the document, she should sign as “first name, surname (maiden name).” If you send a copy of the marriage certificate, that will be additional proof.
