Information on Giovanni Vincenzi, 1848, from Roncoferraro, Mantova

Post by vncns »

Hi,

I'm looking for information on my great-great-grandfather. His name was Giovanni Vincenzi, he was born in Roncoferraro, Mantova, Lombardia, Italy around 1848 and died by 1897. He came to Brazil in 1878 in the Vapor Henri IV, from Havre to Rio de Janeiro. His parents were Cesare Vincenzi and Luigia Montanari Vincenzi, from Casale, Roncoferraro. Her sister was Rosa Raguzzoni Vincenzi (born 1843 in Casale), but no sure about other brothers or sisters.

In Brazil he married to Giacomina Bassani Vincenzi (from Pianezze, Vicenza, Veneto, born in 1852), but maybe he was already married in Italy, since in the same ship to Brazil there were 4 Vincenzi married: Anselmo and Anselma (one couple) and Giovanni and Teresa Vincenzi, plus 5 kids (not sure who is from each couple) with ages between 4 months and 8 years. They were Meris (8), Enes or Enehs (5), Cesare (3), Teresita (4 months) and Maria (4).

Any help is appreciated 🙌

Thanks gaspaol! That's exactly him.

Now I think that maybe the one that came with Tereza is another Giovanni, so the ship's list is not from my family.

It would be great to find registers of his birth or anything on his parents, Cesare Vincenzi and Luigia Montanari Vincenzi.

Thanks a lot mogno! I sent them an e-mail asking for the birth certificate and any other information that may have.

I have a really hard time reading the manuscript. Can someone help me identify the other names/dates/places in the document? Here:

I recognize that Giovanna's father was Giuseppe, but I see names that I cant read much more, like Carlo di Antonio, Cirio (?), Stefanini...

Giovanna Cestari was the daughter of Giuseppe and of Fortunata Marin, "esposta del Civico Spedale di Mirandola" (Fortunata was brought as a newborn to the hospital in Mirandola and her parents are probably unknown). The other names are: Mauroner Carlo of Antonio and Stefanini Aristide of the late Giacomo. They are just witnesses though.

Thanks for the clarification gaspaol.

Giovanni married again in Brazil to another italian woman called Giacomina Bassani, in August 6 1884.

I wonder what happened to Giovanna? Did they get divorced? Did she die? Can't find much about them.

I sent an email to the Archivio Storico Diocesano in Mantua 1 month ago, but no one replied. How long do they usually take to give an answer? Do they answer if they do not find anything?
